First Evidence of Correlation Between Evapotranspiration and Gravity at a Daily Time Scale From Two Vertically Spaced Superconducting Gravimeters

چکیده
Estimating evapotranspiration (ET) is a primary challenge in modern hydrology. Hydrogravimetry an integrative approach providing highly precise continuous measurement of gravity acceleration. However, large-scale effects (e.g., tides, polar motion, atmospheric loading) limit the fine time-scale interpretation data and processing leads to residual signal noise. To circumvent this limitation, we exploited difference between two superconducting gravimeters (SGs) vertically spaced by 512 m. The allows remove common effects. Daily variation significantly correlated with daily as estimated using water balance model SimpKcET (p-value = 4.10?10). effective only during rain-free periods. In future, comparison direct ET measurements eddy-covariance, scintillometer) may confirm strengthen our interpretation. Improved hydrogravimetric could extend proposed other experimental sites equipped single SG.

celeration of gravity with superconducting gravimeters
In this paper we very preliminarily investigate the possibility of measuring the post-Newtonian general relativistic gravitoelectric and gravitomagnetic components of the acceleration of gravity on the Earth, in continuous regime, with two absolute measurements at the equator and the south pole with superconducting gravimeters. The magnitudes of such relativistic effects are 10 m s and 10 m s, ...
متن کاملGGP (Global Geodynamics Project): an international network of superconducting gravimeters to study time- variable gravity
The Global Geodynamics Project (GGP) is an international network of superconducting gravimeters (SG) first established in 1997 and further extended in 2003. It was decided during the last IUGG assembly in 2007 to move to a permanent network hosted by IAG and become part of GGOS. Several new locations are being planned to extend the network to about 30 stations in 2008/2009. One of the present t...
متن کاملA Numerical Study of Flow and Heat Transfer Between Two Rotating Vertically Eccentric Spheres with Time- Dependent Angular Velocities
The transient motion and the heat transfer of a viscous incompressible flow contained between two vertically eccentric spheres maintained at different temperatures and rotating about a common axis with different angular velocities is numerically considered when the angular velocities are an arbitrary functions of time. The resulting flow pattern, temperature distribution, and heat transfer char...
